California illustrator Ann Ranlett paints with watercolor on Yupo, a synthetic paper, which has a smooth, slick surface that doesn't absorb water. As the water evaporates, the paint stays vibrant and bright, leaving interesting swirls, patterns and watermarks in the paint as it dries.
Ranlett specializes in nature drawings rendered in ink on scratchboard, mixed media and watercolor. She also accepts commissions for pet and animal portraits and enjoys working with devoted owners and their beloved animals.
A member of the Auburn Old Town Gallery and the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators (GNSI), Ms. Ranlett lives with her husband, two dogs and a horse, on "Swamp Dog Ranch," their 3-acre property in Newcastle, CA. |

Sheri Burns
The ambience and rich cultural influence of northern
New Mexico are a constant source of inspiration for Sheri
Burns. I love painting, especially creating rich
color contrasts. Color; it really is all about color
and about being spontaneous.
The
images Sheri paints are full of positive energy; a reflection
of her own personality and spirit. She most often paints
in acrylic on linen or paper.
A Texas native, she lives in the rural village of Corrales,
New Mexico, with her husband, artist Dorman Burns. They
are the parents of artists Downe Burns and Breck Gorman. |

of which inspires me--I cant wait to get back home
and paint it. |

which she seals, inks and transfers to paper with a manual
high pressure press. She also uses this press for her monotype
